130 children from charity homes linked to GISBH remain unclaimed.

A total of 130 children rescued from charity homes linked to GISB Holdings Sdn Bhd (GISBH) have yet to be claimed by their parents, said Women, Family, and Community Development Minister Nancy Shukri.

She said this might be because the parents are worried about being detained if they come to retrieve their children.

“They are worried about coming to claim their children because the process involves the police, but in reality, those who are detained have committed other offenses,” she told reporters after visiting flood victims at the temporary relief center (PPS) at Sekolah Kebangsaan Seri Tumpat 2.

Nancy said the Social Welfare Department (JKM) has contacted the parents of the children, but no response has been received.

“JKM needs to return these children to their parents because there is a specific period set by the court,” she said, adding that there is a special procedure for handing over the children.

She said JKM must obtain a court order to determine a qualified and suitable individual to care for the children.

Since the first phase of Op Global began in early September, a total of 415 individuals, including the top management of GISBH, have been detained, while 625 victims aged between two months and 28 years have been successfully rescued by the police.
