Crocodiles: Visitors are prohibited from swimming at Teluk Batik Beach.

Visitors are prohibited from engaging in water activities, including swimming, at Teluk Batik Beach, Perak, following the sighting of a saltwater crocodile at the resort yesterday.

A spokesperson for the Manjung Municipal Council (MPM) said the ban is effective starting today until authorities are confident about the current situation and the safety monitoring period at the beach is completed.

The sighting of the crocodile was reported near the jetty owned by Vale Mineral (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd, approximately 2.5km from Teluk Batik Beach.

“The Manjung Municipal Council (MPM), the Civil Defence Force (APM), and the Department of Wildlife and National Parks (Perhilitan) Perak have conducted monitoring operations and set up several traps as part of the ongoing crocodile capture operation.

“MPM urges visitors to comply with the instructions and refrain from engaging in beach activities until further notice.

“However, activities at the park and Dataran Teluk Batik are still allowed and will continue to operate as usual,” the spokesperson said, according to Harian Metro.

Meanwhile, an inspection at the site revealed red flags hoisted near the shoreline, indicating a ban on swimming activities.

Yesterday, the media reported that an APM patrol team received information from a video recording showing the crocodile sighted near the Vale jetty at around 2:24 PM.
