KOTA BHARU: Police have foiled a smuggling operation involving cosmetic products estimated to be worth RM94,500 at the illegal Jitong base in Pasir Mas yesterday.
Commander of the Southeast Brigade General Operations Force (PGA), Nik Ros Azhan Nik Ab Hamid, said the seizure was carried out by a team from Battalion 8 (PGA8) at 5:30 p.m. during the Op Taring Wawasan Kelantan operation.
He said that during a patrol, the officers noticed the door of a storage facility near the illegal base was left open.
Following that, the officers conducted an inspection and found several boxes containing cosmetic products believed to have been smuggled from Thailand inside the storage facility.
“During the inspection, no one was present at the storage area, and it is believed that all the products were intended for the local market. All the cosmetic products were later handed over to Komtak Jeram Perdah for further action under Section 7(1)(E) of the Control of Drugs and Cosmetics Regulations 1984.
The General Operations Force (PGA) will continue to intensify efforts to curb smuggling activities along the national border, and strict action will be taken against anyone involved,” he said in a statement today.
